The worldwide center of car cruising took center stage for the Woodward Dream Cruise, August 14-16. Easily the largest car party in the world, drawing some 1.5 million attendees and participants, the Dream Cruise is a giant celebration of the automobile, its heritage, and the drive-in culture that fueled endless wonderful memories.

This year, Ford set up an elaborate garage and stage at Woodward and 9 Mile Road in Ferndale. Mustang Alley had a major presence on Woodward at the 2009 Dream Cruise, just as it did in the 1960s.

This was my second WDC, and how could you not have a great time! How could you not, with 40,000 cars and over a million of car-crazy people lining Woodward from 9 Mile to Pontiac!

This year, my friend and I spent time touring the sites in Ferndale, where the Mustang Corral is located, and Pontiac, where all the burnouts occur. It’s something you really have to experience.

I wasn’t able to drive my Mustang to Detroit, but next year I should. I’m really looking forward to that.
